Our dedicated team is always here for your pets
As the lockdown has come to an end as of midnight Saturday 21st November, we will be open as normal after this. We ask you to phone on arrival before entering the building, wear a mask and sanitise you hands once you come into the clinic. As always, if you have a fever, sore throat or any respiratory symptoms, please do not come to the clinic. We thank you for your understanding.
What is a coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that infect birds and mammals, including humans. They are often associated with the common cold, bronchitis and pneumonia and can also affect the gut. The virus that causes COVID-19 is also a coronavirus and likely originated from a wildlife reservoir.
Canine coronavirus, which can cause diarrhea, and feline coronavirus, which can cause Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), have been seen by veterinarians for many years. These coronaviruses are not associated with the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Should I avoid contact with pets or other animals if I am sick with COVID-19?
As the outbreak continues, a number of pet owners will be placed in quarantine. We know that your pet is part of your family and you want them to have the same level of protection and care as any other family member. Current information suggests there is no apparent risk to you or your pet from being in quarantine with you.
We do advise all pet owners to practice appropriate hand hygiene before and after handling their pet, their food and washing food/water bowls. We do suggest thought to minimise very close contact with your pet during this quarantine period such as hugging, face to face contact and sleeping on your bed.
What do I do if I am in quarantine or self isolation and my pet is unwell?
Do not break quarantine or come to the clinic even if your pet is unwell. By doing this you will put all of our staff at risk of infection. Please ring the clinic first and ask for advice.
This is a rapidly evolving situation and the most up to date information can be found at health.gov.au
We are open as normal but if your pet needs veterinary attention and:
- you have been overseas within the last 14 days
- you're experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
- you need to self isolate.
then please phone the clinic for advice before coming to the clinic.
Veterinarians have officially been classed as an Esential Service by the Government and we will remain open to provide care to your loved pets.
In light of recent events, we have updated our safety measures to deal with the Coronavirus Pandemic.
We are now allowing owners back in to the clinic with their pets. We would prefer 1 person per pet. Please phone when you arrive at the clinic and a nurse will let you know when you can enter the buildng.
For any pick up of medications or food, again we ask you to call when you arrive. As always please order medications or food through our website or at a previous time on the phone to reduce waiting times.
We would prefer contactless payment.
We are fully aware that these changes are difficult for all of us but we want to ensure we are in the best position to care for you and your pets in the future.

We have another laboratory machine to complement our already vast in house testing suite. Apart from being able to perform blood tests for biochemistry and haematology, we now can run comprehensive urine testing. This machine is the SediVue DX Urine Sediment Analyser and in less than 5 minutes is able recognise and report on the sediment in the urine. It can recognise cells, bacteria, rods and crystals using facial recognition technology.

A big part of our local community
We are an integral part of our local community. We have helped thousands of our clients cats & dogs, as well as pocket pets. Being so strongly integrated with our local community is important to us and our clients. Our customers know by experience that they can rely on us for sound advice and treatment options and that their pet is in the very best hands with our team. One of the highlights of the year is where we participate in the local Blackwood Christmas Pageant. We have animals of all shapes and sizes come along, and with their owners, we have a great afternoon. Click here to look at photos from the 2019 Pageant.
Every year we sell Entertainment Books and the money we raise is donated to Minton Farm. Each book sells for 70 Dollars and 14 Dollars of that goes to Minton Farm to help contribute to the great work they do for injured wildlife. So if your a regular Entertainment Book devotee, or even if your not, consider purchasing one from us this year and the let the proceeds go to a great cause. Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause. This year, 2019, we raised $266 for Minton Farm. In 2020, we will donate proceeds to Purrfect Paws Pet Rescue, a local non profit Rescue Organisation. Entertainment Books are now available and this year there are only digital copies available.
