Ali Coleman
Senior Clinic Veterinarian (BVSc(Hons))
I grew up in Melbourne surrounded by dogs, cats , birds, turtles and the occasional sheep. Many of my holidays as a kid was spent on a diary farm in Northern Victoria so like most of us in this industry I felt a close bond with animals from a young age.
After graduating from Veterinary Science in 1990, I moved to Adelaide and have lived in Blackwood since 1991. I spent many years travelling to the other side of town for work and have worked in some great practices over the years. I have always worked with small animals and I find it very rewarding to have a great relationship with people and their much loved pets. I am very fortunate to now work at Blackwood Vets. The Blackwood Area is a very special place to work and live in.
I enjoy updating my knowledge by going to various conferences around Australia. It's also a great way to catch up with colleagues I haven't often seen for many years.
I love just about anything outdoors, but especially love camping on our block at Kangaroo Island. Great food is a must, both eating and preparing it. Our family includes me, one hubby, 2 great kids, 1 gorgeous Devon Rex cats(Rexie), a Blue Heeler(Roger) and a Labrador Cross(Murphy). It's not unusual for my daughter and I to be hand rearing baby possums aswell.
I now work part time.

Mary Ann Harvey
Senior Clinic Veterinarian (BVSc(Hons))
I grew up in Adelaide surrounded by cats and dogs and later horses, goats and cattle on a family farm in the Adelaide Hills. I had my heart set on being a vet since Primary School.
Since graduating in 1983 I have worked in many Adelaide Practices in permanent, part-time or locum positions, including 10 years of mixed practice in Strathalbyn.
Living locally, we share our home with Radar, the Jack Russell Cross, who is a regular staff member of Blackwood Vets, and 2 cats. Basil is a very smoochy Burmese, and Sprocket a socially awkward but very sweet Domestic Short hair.
Loving all sorts of adventure sports I enjoy sail boarding, water skiing, climbing and playing inline hockey. My main passion is snowboarding and I can't seem to get through winter without a trip to the snow!
Blackwood Vets is a fabulous place to work with lovely clients and a wonderful group of dedicated and caring staff.

Ashlee Vandenbroek
Veterinarian (DVM)
Being born and bred in the Adelaide Hills, I have great memories of bringing my array of family pets to Ali, Mary Ann, and the team at Blackwood Vets. Growing up, I was surrounded by animals from guinea pigs (Joey and Chandler), rescue dog (Mia) to now our two beautiful Boston Terriers (Piper and Hugo), Staffy X (Bear), Cat (Jazzi) and Bearded Dragon (Spike). It didn’t take long to be fascinated by the profession and to be inspired to have a career helping animals.
After completing my schooling at Belair Primary and Unley High schools, I was off to Roseworthy to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian. I was honoured to accept my first role and become part of the team at Blackwood Vets and I feel privileged to be supported by a fantastic, extremely caring team and to be back surrounded by the amazing Hills community that I love so much.
My spare time is taken up getting out in nature and spending time with friends and family. I have a particular passion for photography, and love taking pictures of subjects with 4 legs.
I am very much looking forward to meeting you and your furry family members. Hopefully I too will inspire someone to take the journey I did to help our furry friends.

Michelle Huang
Veterinarian (DVM)
Originally from Taiwan I moved to Adelaide with my family on my 6th birthday - easy to keep track of how many years I’ve been in Australia! I have visited other capital cities in Australia, but Adelaide still feels most like home. I love the people, the laid back lifestyle, our beaches and all the festivals held throughout the year.
One of my favourite things to do is taking photos. Documenting life, family, pets and most of all food! I love discovering all the amazing food places Adelaide has, and would be keen to hear any suggestions if we ever have a chat!
I’m a 2020 graduate from The University of Adelaide, who has a keen interest in surgery and imaging (ultrasounds & x-rays). I joined Blackwood Veterinary Surgery in December 2022 after a 4 month post-covid hiatus of travelling around Europe - it was absolutely amazing. I’m very excited to be part of such a wonderful community especially with such a warm welcome at the Christmas pageant. I love a close community who’s supportive of one another like Blackwood, and I hope this will be the first of many pageants to come.

Brianna Ramsey
Veterinary Technician (Bachelor of Veterinary Technology)
I recently completed a Bachelor degree in Veterinary Technology at the University of Adelaide in 2022. I was inspired from a young age to care for animals, and it was the perfect opportunity when the degree became available in 2020. I am really excited about my career beginning in the Vet industry at Blackwood Vets.
I currently live with my family's rescue dog who is an energetic staffy x whippet named Bandit (the boss of the house). When I'm not at work i enjoy spending my time with family and friends, going on day trips, playing netball and going for walks with Bandit.

Harrison Olsen
Veterinary Nurse
I am an aspiring Veterinary Technologist currently completing my Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at the University of Adelaide with a passion for all animals. Having grown up around them, I have become quite the Great Dane lover. After having five Great Danes, my love for animals has grown over the years with a developing interest in providing animal care. Always having wanted to work in the veterinary industry, I am glad I’ve made my start at Blackwood Vet.
I currently have one Great Dane at the moment, Poppy. She’s a rebellious teenager whose enjoyment consists of walks on the beach, chasing a ball, body slamming guests because who doesn’t love a “hug”, digging holes in the backyard for the pool we didn’t ask for, rearranging the irrigation system and a whole range of other “gardening” activities.
Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with family and friends. I am a big sports person who loves watching almost anything from motorsport to footy as well as playing old collegians soccer and in summer you can find me on the Murray River waterskiing.

Courtney Earl
Veterinary Nurse (BSc (Animal Science))
Having grown up surrounded by animals both large and small, my love of animals and dream of working in the animal industry began at an early age. After leaving school I went on to pursue my passion by completing a Bachelor of Science (Animal Science) degree at the University of Adelaide which I completed at the end of 2020. I then decided to start my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at the beginning of 2021 which I am due to complete in 2022. I am absolutely delighted to have recently started my veterinary nursing career with the team at Blackwood Veterinary Surgery.
I currently live with 2 dogs, an energetic and mischievous fox terrier cross named Jock and a sweet and gentle mixed breed named Ellie. I also live with 2 cats called Lucy and Smudge who are 14 and 6.

Nicole
Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)
I have been Vet Nursing for about 9yrs after a career change from having my own Hairdressing Salon. For me, pets have so much unselfish love to give us, and as humans we have a lot to learn from them, I think! I share 2 Labradors, Shadow and Ellie, with my husband and our world heavily revolves around them, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. When I’m not at work, I enjoy doing reformer pilates, aerial silks, walking our dogs, gardening, going on 4wd trips with my husband, and going to different restaurants with friends and family. I am about to start doing pet friendly visits with Shadow at nursing homes, which I am really looking forward to.
I enjoy many aspects of Veterinary Nursing such as monitoring anaesthetics, performing laboratory diagnostic tests and assisting with dental procedures, but I especially enjoy establishing a good rapport with clients and their fur children. I value the importance of exceptional customer service and always strive to provide the best experience possible. I am also passionate about promoting weight loss for pets and providing clients support and guidance for them to achieve their ideal healthy weight.
